TOPIC: Depot medications in Psychiatry
The Department of Mental Health Nursing conducted an Add on Course on the topic “Depot medications in Psychiatry” for the 6th semester B.Sc. Nursing students. The session was held on 26th June 2025 at the college premises. The resource person for the session was Dr. Sharda, Professor and Head, Department of Psychiatry, Malabar Medical College. The welcome speech was done by Mrs. Athulya. K V, Assistant professor, Dept. Mental Health Nursing. The memento was given to Dr. Sharadha madam by Dr. Prof. Rekha T. Dr. Shardha delivered a highly informative and interactive lecture, focusing on the importance, indications, administration techniques, advantages, and patient compliance related to depot antipsychotic medications.
The course aimed to enhance students’ clinical knowledge and bridge the gap between theory and practice in psychiatric medication management. students actively participated in the session, benefiting from the expert insights and real-life clinical examples shared by the speaker. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where students clarified their doubts. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, and students expressed appreciation for the opportunity to deepen their understanding of psychiatric nursing practices. A post test was conducted after the class; students were actively responded. Vote of thanks delivered by Fathima Najila student of sixth semester Bsc Nursing.
